AjaxLife restored

By semi-popular demand, AjaxLife is running again. I assume it works – all I get is the highly useful error “Your account has been disabled. Please visit www.secondlife.com to renew your membership.” – but that’s to be expected, given I cancelled the account.

So there you go. Development is somewhat hard, given I can’t log in. But it’s running. I also finally managed to get around to repairing the login screen, which also no longer relies on strange proxying things.

It’s also been repeatedly suggested that I should uncancel my account. I won’t do so, for two reasons – firstly, I am not aware of anywhere I can go without being harassed by people like Shawn (see his earlier comments before he was auto-blacklisted). Secondly, it’d cost money. I wouldn’t object to that if I actually had good reason to pay it, but I don’t.

Also, still no idea what I’m going to do instead. But also no idea what I’d do if I was there, so… >.>

Addendum to “The end.”

Despite my earlier “never be nice” sentiment, I have posted a variety of scripts from my inventory on the TG forum. Still waiting for the account to actually be on hold.

Also, I have no idea what to do now. For the time being, I shall simply have to play on my Wii. And exchange emails with anyone who cares to mail me (I’m lonely and bored! – katharine@katharineberry.co.uk).

Also, I have a server not doing anything other than running a webserver redirecting to this blog. Any suggestions?

The end.

Following proof that there is nothing left for me in SL, both from an earlier discussion and a recent event, I’ve decided to go out entirely. See comments on that post that were added while I was typing.

I’ve cancelled my account. AjaxLife development will stop, and the public service will be terminated.

You may be happy, Mercury, that I won’t send you a third IM (oh, the horror!) about the sim you took from me. You may be happy, majority of TSL (especially Shawn, Daisy Brennen and Dontay Brennen (the “FUCK YOU KATHERINE BERRY” person)), that I won’t be around to do whatever it is I do to make you dislike me so much.

And Daisy, I don’t moderate comments, unless they’re spam.

EDIT: I’ve also pulled down the donation button (there’s nothing left to donate for, so…).

EDIT 2: Found who had named me in their profile, and added links to their web profiles.

Never be nice.

So, I gave away my sim, on the condition that a plan was formed, and said plan was executed. Well, a plan was formed all right. But not executed at all. When I complain, I get a rude response, banned from the sim, and two other people IMing me about “harassing” their friend (is a single IM harassment? Interesting.)

At least two of them then decide to report me for it.

You know, Mercury Metropolitan, stealing sims from people isn’t nice. I clearly shouldn’t trust people. I’m not going to bother trying to be nice again.

I hate people. (And that includes myself.)

New Search and WindLight

Well, on the one hand search and WindLight, yay!

On the other, it doesn’t like me. :(

SL Search

P.S. The AjaxLife server (as in the machine) is down. Working on it.

Linden Lab acknowledge the Teen Grid

They’ve decided to hold a Town Hall on Tuesday (at 4pm PST – is this chosen specifically so everybody’s either at school or sleeping? *sigh*), and re-enabled PayPal signup. Well, if you’re in a specific subset of users, I guess. Why don’t they like me? :(

PayPal attempt
The message is even self-contradictory and false (no email was sent). And what’s “PalPal”?

Bonus points if they announce it on their blog. Even more if it actually works for me. It’d be nice if the Town Hall wasn’t at midnight too, but that’s just timezones for you.

One down, a whole load to go. Keep trying! ;)

UPDATE: The email eventually arrived, albeit very delayed. It turns out the failure message was wrong, because it actually had succeeded. Right… Anyway, yay! Now I shall instead complain that, although we still have the old (from at least 2005) Orientation Island, we get the new HUD. This is totally confusing. Two points for LL, however. They just need to fix their lying error messages.

My Image2Prim experiments worked. Woo!

Foobar Salad transferred and TSLurl.com redirecting

Foobar Salad (my sim) has been transferred to Mercury Metropolitan and renamed “Aura” for the fairly low price of L$29,000 (US$101). I am now getting constant emails about stuff having gone off-world, because he apparently keeps raising the terrain. It should, theoretically, transfer to the MG at the end of the month. However, no region has ever been transferred to the MG before, so it remains to be seen if this actually works, and if someone remembers to do it.

In addition, any link to http://tslurl.com/something will now redirect to http://slurl.com/something. Since tslurl and slurl used an identical URL scheme, this should not pose a problem, and neatly resolves the issue of a load of dead links.

As a result of my sim having been transferred, I now have little reason to continue to hang around it. Also, I really don’t feel like hanging around people right now anyway.

Services shut down

TSL Emporium, TSL Profiles, stats.katharineberry.co.uk and the online status system have all been shut down as of now.

TSLE balances have all been refunded, and use of the site is impossible. TSLP returns a 404, stats returns 403. The online status system returns “Offline” if you’re using the images, “The online status system is down or overloaded.” if you’re using the text, and “-2″ if you’re using the numeric output. Anyone using the forum GreaseMonkey script will see “(unknown)” for everyone.

AjaxLife updated

New AjaxLife features and fixes. Yay.

New features:

  • Minimap display – shows a heightmap of your surroundings, plus marks positions of everyone in the sim in the same way as LL’s minimap.
  • Your position in the top-left corner – because it’s helpful to know where you are. Also, this one is better about updating if you’re involuntarily moved.

Bugfixes:

  • Teleporting to a position no longer consistently fails.

Known issues

  • The minimap displays you twice – once as a yellow indicator and once as a green dot.
  • You rotate on the spot. :P
  • Logging into the Havok4 beta fails unless you have recently done so using an official LL client.
  • The minimap doesn’t work in Internet Explorer – and it never will, given IE doesn’t support the canvas tag.
  • The minimap is completely useless at higher altitudes.
  • The minimap doesn’t display the whole sim unless you teleport around it. It should display everywhere in your vicinity, however.

Also, if the minimap is causing problems for anyone, please let me know! In testing it didn’t have any performance impact, but…

UPDATE: Fixed some potential issues in IE. Also, attached a screenshot I intended to attach but forgot.

AjaxLife updated

UPDATE 2: Fixed a bug causing the map to be offset by 16 pixels metres.
