Stats improvements underway

My TG stats are currently being worked on, so I can add detailed data about TG concurrency, and also the number of people on any given sim at any given time.

Just need to wait for this maintenence script to run…

85B42B8 = 140,198,584...
  Converted 1 instances of 85B42B8 to 140198584.
85B47DA = 140,199,898...
  Converted 3 instances of 85B47DA to 140199898.
85B5DF1 = 140,205,553...
  Converted 1 instances of 85B5DF1 to 140205553.
85B8413 = 140,215,315...
  Converted 4 instances of 85B8413 to 140215315.

Once that’s done I can restart the concurrency collector (a libsecondlife bot permanently connected to my sim checking the map) with the new system in place, and do interesting stuff with the data.

Off-topic sidenote: Thanks Tateru!

P.S. the script finished running while I was typing this. It had to convert ~970,000 values, which took it 1,089 seconds.

  • Woot, that would be cool to see such statistics.

  • That LibSL bot sounds interesting… So it is constantly peering at the little green dots on the map, and recording them?

  • Hi,

    I’m planning to teach a “Society and Information Technology in Second Life” course on Wednesday evenings (I’m told Wed. is maintenance day). I’ve been told that SL is down a lot on Wednesday evenings. Can you point me to some statistics, please? Are there any statisics on this site? What are your impressions of downtime on Weds.? Would you risk teaching a college course on Wednesday evenings, given its downtime patterns? Thanks very much.

  • Aphilo, Katharine’s stats system collect Teen Grid statistics, not Main Grid stats. I am not sure if on Wed. of this week (August 1st) there is going to be any down-time for upgrades, but if there are, it might be likely that SecondLife might not be as stable as normal. It really depends if the update is just a viewer update (what you download), or a simulator update (where you go in-world). I would check out the SecondLife blog to see whats going on.
