I see someone linked to me – all that traffic’s directed at AjaxLife. It does now work on the MG. Oh, and it doesn’t work on Safari 2 – use the Safari 3 beta or Firefox instead. Alternatively, if anyone with access to Safari 2 can help me work it out, that’d be appreciated too.

To say that you’ve been linked to is an understatement Kath. This is circulating right on the SL educator’s list serve as we speak, and has only been doing so for the past 10 hours or so, and most people don’t check their work email over the weekends. I would say that by about Tuesday the entire main grid (entire being a highly imprecise term) will know about it. You *might* need an additional server. : )

Your project is nothing but GREAT and usefull and again GREAT work.
Withall the hardware (and very often software limitation – access restricted from the office) I estimate a huge amount of people using it.
Thank you for you work.
Enough people have used it already – it caused by server to grind to a halt. Not even responsive enough to shut down properly; had to pull the plug on it.
I have an idea for scaling it better…
On a totally unrelated note… I still remember the first comment you made when we first discussed your blog, and I think the situation totally pwned you this time. :p

But assuming it really does work – this is a nice piece of code, congrats then!
For scaling – GPL it and put for the others, then others would install it too, and then would be possible to loadbalance between the servers… (well, although I don’t know your plans about code distribution, but having many servers would definitely help scalability

Neat project! I was actually thinking about making a 2d interface to Second Life, but i never thought of using good ol’ HTML & JavaScript to do it.
With regard to Safari 2 i’d be glad to check it out, but it appears that the service is not responding (i.e. i get a Bad Gateway error).
Woo, it finally crashed out. That means I can get to my server again.
I have actually fixed Safari 2 now (apparently it disliked the word ‘float’), but the buttons are all misplaced.
I’ll restart the thing now and cross my fingers. :p

Now and again, Great ideas that join stuff up like this come along and have a massive impact. This will be really important for people who cant access SL because of firewall/routing issues.

If you allow access to the source.. People can host their own at a site they manage/trust. Would take some pressure off your servers too

Sorry, I’m working on internationalisation support. I probably broke something somewhere. Checking it now. (Coming soon: Spanish translation. Translation volunteers appreciated for other languages.)

You can practise/learn them a bit while they’re the default languages xDD
