Second Life is (still) down

[21:26 GMT] The grid is scheduled to be back up by 22:00 GMT. Fingers crossed, again.

[20:11 GMT] As predicted, LL screwed up. Looks like I’m not logging on for a while. In the meantime, I’m going to be on the preview grid working on a system to post to the blog from SL.

Linden Lab have taken SL offline for the 1.13.3 update, which will hopefully stop the grid dying every single day, albeit at the cost of minor search functionality. This means that my “currently online” tracker will never be able to work again, but since it hasn’t been working for months, I guess it doesn’t really matter.

As I type this, the servers are back up, but logins are still restricted. Fingers crossed that everything goes well, and we can actually log in on time.

On the subject of downtime, I forgot to take TSLE down while SL was down. No harm was done, so it doesn’t really matter.

Things on my todo list:

  • Make an interface for posting to this blog from inside SL
  • Work on the main website
  • Add a system to TSLE to make it shut itself down automatically during grid downtime.

I don’t pretend that these will ever get done, just that they really should be, some day. ;)

Finally, does anyone have any idea for what to do with this website yet? Currently it’s looking like I’ll be pulling together data and possibly blogging on it, but that’s all…. Well, we’ll see what happens. :D

Right now I’m installing postfix and friends so I can send/recieve email here.

I also have dual monitors now! Yay! :D
